FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 7, 2014

On Thursday, October 2, 2014, agents of the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad (CMANS) executed a search warrant at a residence located at 820 Rabbit Hill Road, Canton, Georgia. Officers arrested Lillye Darlene Ivy (aka. Lillie Darlene Reddin), of Canton, for Trafficking in Methamphetamine; and Tonya Denise Zimmerman, also of Canton, for Possession of Methamphetamine.

CMANS Agents established surveillance on the Rabbit Hill Road address after receiving information that Ivy was involved in the distribution of methamphetamine in the Holly Springs area. Agents observed Ivy arrive at her residence, accompanied by Zimmerman, with about two ounces of methamphetamine in her car. When agents entered the residence they discovered an additional four ounces of methamphetamine in the house.

The total amount recovered was almost six ounces of methamphetamine valued at $8,850. Both the defendants were transported to the Cherokee Adult Detention Center in Canton.

Possession of any amount of methamphetamine is a felony, but punishment is enhanced by Georgia Law to the offense of Trafficking in Methamphetamine when the amount exceeds one ounce. While heroin use is on the rise, the crystal methamphetamine imported from Mexico continues to be the number one drug abuse problem in Cherokee County.

The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is a joint task force working in Cherokee County to investigate drug related violations. Participating agencies include the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, the Canton Police Department, the Woodstock Police Department, the Holly Springs Police Department, the Ball Ground Police Department, the Cherokee County Marshal’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia State Patrol. Citizens may call in tips anonymously to (770) 345-7920, or may speak to an agent by calling (678) 493-7625.
